Sundays 5:00 – 6:15 PM HST
Cultivate your authentic life force energy with a free-form dance experience! Let the deeply engaging music get you out of your head, releasing into movement-creativity. Enhance your physical conditioning, self-healing, true listening and emotional self-awareness.
Experienced ecstatic dance facilitators Eva Gueke and Krista Hiser (and sometimes, guest DJs) create soundscapes to inspire your dance journey, whether you choose to dance at home or In-Person in our Barefoot Ballroom*. After opening the space and guiding a warmup, your movement choices are your own.
A closing circle after the class, always optional, gives you the chance to reflect on your experience and connect with this conscious dance community. Our ecstatic dancers have shared the following experiences after dancing:
“I feel like I can really just be me.”
“It’s like I’m resetting my aura every week.”
“I thought I was tired but I discovered new energy.”
“I revisited a memory and got a new perspective.”
“I love just listening to the music. It’s an experience I couldn’t create for myself.”
PLEASE NOTE: In order to continue to offer in-person classes, Still & Moving Center will require all in-person students to show proof of vaccination starting September 1, 2021. Please bring your vaccine card (photocopy or photo are also acceptable) with you to verify with the front desk prior to your next in-person class. Verification will be noted so that you will only need to show your vaccine card once. We will not store a visual record of your personal information.
When I stepped into my first Nia class, I thought “this is it!” It was like a cool dance party, except it was 9 am, and in a gym. I could get fit, have fun, and wear cool pants! For me, Nia is the ultimate in efficiency: in one hour, I get a physical workout, a mental re-set, an emotional experience through music, and an energizing connection to my sacred purpose on the planet. It’s a workout, a dance party with friends, and a therapy session wrapped into one amazing hour! Nia is THE 21st century fitness modality! In my classes, I create an energetic, athletic experience for every-BODY, grounded in the joy of movement, clarity of the 52 moves, freedance, and luxurious floorplay and relaxation.
My style is athletic, creative, and zany. I teach Nia from my heart and I’m usually surprised at what comes out. I love to play with the spirit and energy of the group – each class is a unique co-creation that will never happen again! I am committed to Nia as a personal practice, and I teach it as a cumulative subject of inquiry. You can just show up to work out and break a sweat, but if you really choose Nia, my classes can be a catalyst transformative change. I am here to empower each participant to love their body and their life, and to impact our community and the world by doing whatever it is they do, and doing it better! At Still and Moving, the Athletic Nia class is 15 minutes longer, allowing a sustained cardio peak and additional time for conditioning floorplay and strength work.
In Nia, “Athletic” refers to options that can leave the ground with a jump, or press into the floor with a push up. I teach Athletic Nia by modeling the edge of Nia choreography and adding improvisational bursts of energy and freedance. But the words you will hear most out of my mouth are: “you choose,” and “here’s an option,” making even my most athletic class accessible and inspiring for all.

Eva Alewa Geueke leads guided Dance classes and events, with over 30 years of experience doing so. She is a true dancer at heart, as well as a professional Contemporary Dancer, who has always been interested in meaningful, authentic and transformative dance – without being heady. Dance for her is a universal language that opens the heart, frees the spirit and brings peace, joy, health, creativity and positive transformation.
Eva loves to learn choreographed dances, yet feels that form needs to be balanced with the expression of one’s own personal dance language coming out of oneself. A movement language does not need to be judged, criticized or remembered. It lives beyond right and wrong, beautiful and ugly, in the glorious moment of one’s authentic truth.
