Rediscover your innate capacity for effortless, organic, efficient, and graceful movement. You may also find your way out of significant levels of pain or discomfort. Many students find themselves freed of years of pain that they thought they would live with forever. Feldenkrais classes – also known as “Awareness through Movement” lessons – consist of gentle movement sequences that can eventually become more complex as you progress. After attending the classes for a while, you will find improved flexibility, breathing, coordination, and balance. No prior experience is necessary.
Feldenkrais® is based on a sophisticated understanding of the human nervous system that helps students continuously improve their functioning in all areas of life. This method uses learning in the way that babies learn: through exploring movement and sensing the environment, in order to get whatever it is we most want out of life. For a baby that may be reaching for a toy and bringing it to the mouth, but for an adult, that may be learning to play a sport better, becoming a better actor or dancer, living a pain-free life, increasing productivity at work, or finding harmony at home. Many students of the Feldenkrais® Method find their physical and non-physical problems spontaneously disappearing as they increase their self-awareness.
As a Certified Feldenkrais™ instructor, Robert Poliquin emphasizes gentle, flowing movement for living easily in our bodies. As a somatic educator who understands the benefits, he helps his students to find naturally healthy posture and carriage. For the past twenty five years, his students have been learning the close links that bind body, mind, and breath.
As a singer and voice coach as well as a Feldenkrais practitioner, Robert can also coach his clients’ vocal technique for better communication. He has worked with a diversified clientele, from dancers, to public speakers, singers, actors, instrumentalists… to everyday folks who want to feel better in their bodies.
Robert coached performers for Cirque du Soleil for almost two decades. With a degree in performance from McGill University, Robert has performed as an artist and worked as a teacher in Québec, Ontario, United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.
