Her classes inspire students to think about dance and life in new\, exciting ways. \nElizabeth grew up in Hawaiʻi and is happy to be home\, dancing in the place she loves\, after more than twenty years of experience performing\, teaching\, choreographing and promoting dance. She has toured France\, Brazil\, Mexico\, and the U.S. with Tennessee Dance Theatre\, Chicago Moving Company\, Lucky Plush Productions\, and Breakbone DanceCo.\, and performed works by Bill T. Jones\, Doug Elkins\, Twyla Tharp\, and Charles Weidman. \nPrior to returning to Hawaiʻi in 2018\, Elizabeth co-founded two dance companies and two regional dance festivals on the continent\, one to promote modern dance in Chicago and one for 7-12th grade dancers and their dance educators in Mississippi. She served as an Associate Professor of Dance at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM)\, where she taught ballet\, modern\, dance education\, anatomy\, choreography\, and dance theory classes. While at USM\, Elizabeth worked to bridge the Dance and Theatre Departments\, including co-creating a full-length devised theatre work with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and serving as Interim Chair for both departments. She holds a BA in Religion with a concentration in Women’s Studies from Carleton College\, and an MFA in Dance from the University of Washington. \n“Ms. Lentz-Hill has effervescence\, an inner glow\, and an absolute belief in what she is presenting in the studio. There is an indefinable type of energy that leaps from her to her students. These qualities projected not only from Ms. Lentz-Hill but also from the students in the residency as they worked with her. The dancers left her sessions with knowledge of a dynamic energy\, knowing they had something of value to contribute to the community around them so much greater than an ability to be a technically sound dancer. To paraphrase a student in the residency – working with Ms. Lentz-Hill was not just a lesson in technique\, it was a lesson in life! “ – Mid-Pacific Institute \n \n Sign Up Now!

Appropriate for all levels (including absolute beginners)\, her class provides you with functional movement\, natural breath mechanics\, and balance through grounding – all with practical applications for your daily life. \nRobin’s preferred yoga technique – called FluidUs – arises from a deep understanding of the body’s myofascial lines and the ways our bodies work as a coordinated and interconnected system rather than a series of separate mechanical parts. \nExpect novel approaches to traditional postures and props\, sincerity\, a sense of humor\, and fun! \nAs you move\, you discover and celebrate your body’s innate intelligence . You find out how good it feels to move in a full-body\, integrated way. Robin teaches yoga with a light\, listen-to-your-body approach to achieve genuine body satisfaction and results. You’ll notice how these beneficial movement patterns help you unravel some of the habits and dysfunctional postures of our modern lifestyles. \nThe yoga class will take place at 1515 Liona street Honolulu HI 96814 on the grassy area in front of Midtown Eats. Please bring a towel and water bottle. Guests should also bring their own yoga mat\, as mats are not included. \nThis class is is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and sponsored by The Park on Ke’eaumoku and Midtown Eats. \nTo complete your booking for this FREE class: On the checkout and booking page please SELECT YOUR HOME LOCATION as “Still & Moving Center”. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Robin Shepard ACAD 1\n \n \n \n \n \n Academy of Mindful Movement certified\, Level 1 \nRobin enjoys teaching both the young and the young-at-heart. As a life-long learner\, she is fascinated by recent scientific discoveries around fascia and functional movement and their implications for the practice of yoga. This curiosity has fueled exploration and experimentation to create a style of movement that is playful and dynamic\, with practical benefit for everyone from absolute beginners to more advanced practitioners. \nRobin constantly looks for ways to deliver a more personal experience\, with respectful irreverence and fun. Whether on the yoga mat or in the aerial hammock\, she links functional movement skills\, breath mechanics\, and novel approaches to traditional poses to increase somatic awareness\, mobility\, and build an organic mind/body connection. \nAs a long time practitioner\, Robin has personally experienced the difference that regularly practicing yoga can make in a person’s life. She sees yoga as a doorway\, progressing from movement into meditation\, awareness\, understanding\, and finally acceptance of ourselves and others. She considers yoga a powerful and essential practice to help navigate our modern world. \nOriginally a native of the Pacific Northwest\, often visiting our islands\, Robin spent 13 years traveling\, raising her family\, and acquiring knowledge and skills in Guangzhou and Shanghai\, China\, as well as Ho Chi Minh City\, Viet Nam. Having purchased a home here in 2014\, Robin is delighted to call Honolulu home. \nShe completed her foundational yoga teacher trainings with Suzanne Vian of Yoga Vietnam and her 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training in the FluidUs Method with Carlos Tao. She has taught yoga for years\, assisting with Yoga Teacher Trainings. Additionally\, Robin is an experienced\, registered Children’s Yoga Teacher and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider\, with training in Pre-Natal and Post-Natal yoga. \nSince arriving in Honolulu in 2020\, Robin has been captivated by the modality of aerial yoga and has completed her teacher training with Carmen Curtis\, founder of AIReal Yoga\, in AIReal Yoga\, AIReal Restore\, and Aerial Hammock Dance. \nAcademy of Mindful Movement certified\, Level 1 \nE-RTY500\, RCYT\, YACEP \nYoga Alliance Registry # 212567

SUMMARY:Palena Workshop: A Hawaiian Perspective on Mapping Your Life Path with Kumu Mālia Helelā. In-person & Live Online

In this workshop\, we explore the Palena\, the boundaries or protected spaces\, of your unique life map. \nWhat is Palena? \nBased on Hawaiian values\, Kumu Mālia visualizes the concept of Palena as a heart-shaped island map representing our life. Somewhat akin to various ‘life wheels’ used in self-help and life-coaching practices\, this island contains eight districts\, symbolically representing eight aspects of our life. This Palena framework for looking at any given topic or  situation provides the onlooker with a view that is both more expansive and more in-depth.  \nKumu Mālia’s deep immersion in Hawaiian language\, culture and history\, as well as her experience in hula\, lomilomi and as a mother of four\, have together inspired and informed her symbolic Palena outlook. See how the Palena perspective brings clarity to the way you understand life. \nWhat to expect: \nCome prepared for thoughtful introspection\, journaling\, and optional discussion. All writing material will be provided. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Palena Workshop Schedule\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mālia Heleā ACAD 1\n \n \n \n \n \n Academy of Mindful Movement Level 1 Training \nKumu Mālia Ko’i’ulaokawaolehua Helelā strives to live a life of grace. Her hālau (hula school)\, which meets at Still & Moving Center\, is Nā Hula Ola Aloha. Completing her ‘ūniki (graduation) under Kumu Hula Pulu’elo Park in 2002\, she now teaches hula and oli (traditional Hawaiian chanting) to a wide range of students\, from infants and toddlers to kupuna. Mālia studied oli under Kumu Hula Keola Lake. She began her formal training in lomilomi massage as a teenager. She was licensed by the State of Hawaii as a massage therapist in 1998 and as an esthetician in 2002. Her hula practice and lomilomi practice\, she says\, are the same. She continues to look to the beauty and grace of the Hawaiian environment for grounding and inspiration. This half hour class incorporates storytelling and hula implements to engage your keikiʻs attention. Families are warmly welcome to attend class\, as we take regular hug breaks with parents! \nYoung children seem magnetically drawn to Kumu Mālia. She’s full of laughter and magically engages their attention and imagination. She has produced her own album of Hawaiian songs for children called “Keiki Hula Love”\, many of which the children learn and perform in her series. \nParticipation in this hula hālau (school) is one of the best introductions to Hawaiian language and culture. Children will learn both hula kahiko (ancient hula) and hula ʻauwana (modern hula)\, with the basic steps as well as oli (Hawaiian chants). Children will learn a true appreciation for nature\, as well as how to make flower lei. Combined with my background in Structural Integration and Neuromuscular Therapy\, it gave me an even deeper ability to listen and respond to restrictions in the myofascial matrix. It took the pressure off my fingers\, wrists\, and shoulders and allowed me to channel that force through my whole body. After giving a Sarga session\, I often found myself feeling more energized than when I started. While applying the Sarga Bodywork techniques to relieve specific injuries and chronic pain conditions\, I noticed a greater sense of freedom in my clients’ bodies\, profound shifts in their state of being\, and a more consistent rebook rate. \nI teach this work from a place of deep respect and gratitude. My aim is not only to help you master the technique but to teach you to truly sense the tissue transforming through the many tools contained within your feet. I look forward to instructing you and helping to make Sarga an integral part of your practice. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Kumu Mālia Helelā\n \n \n \n \n \n Kumu Mālia Ko’i’ulaokawaolehua Helelā strives to live a life of grace.
