What Can Tara\u2019s Pediatric Occupational Therapy do for your Special Needs Child – whether young or adult?<\/b><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Occupational Therapy guides clients of all ages, including children and adults, with special needs – as well as their families – who are challenged with conditions impacting daily life. Those challenges include: fine motor delays, self-help delays, social-skills delays, and sensory processing delays. Tara\u2019s therapy makes use of a wide variety of evidence-based interventions to help clients become more independent in essential home, school, and work activities. With Tara, client achieve a higher quality of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

For older children and adults with special needs, Tara\u2019s Pediatric & Adult Occupational Therapy is a unique, whole body, movement-based approach. Motor coordination, sensory processing skills, executive functioning, self care skills, and much more are improved!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tara includes <\/span>Aerial apparatus<\/b> in her sessions at Still & Moving Center. *<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*Aerial Movement, using an aerial hammock can be used in a session if appropriate for the client.\u00a0 Clients must be able to follow directions (with or without assistance from a caregiver as needed).\u00a0 A client with severe behavioral issues may not be appropriate for this setting. <\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

            Throughout her entire career, Tara has worked for children of all ages, while helping families navigate through a wide variety of medical and developmental challenges, providing caring support and evidence-based techniques to achieve family goals in feeding skills, body awareness, oral motor coordination, fine motor strength, dexterity and coordination, postural strength, problem solving skills, executive function, and more.\u00a0 Most importantly, Tara works hard to make sure that everyone she works with has fun and builds confidence while learning new skills!<\/span><\/p>\n

            \u00a0Tara specializes her Pediatric Occupational Therapy by working with aerial apparatus.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Tara earned her Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree in 2008 from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, as valedictorian of her graduating class.\u00a0 She is nationally board certified by NBCOT with a specialty in Pediatrics, and licensed to practice occupational therapy in Hawaii, Alaska, and California.\u00a0 She is also a lifetime member of the San Diego NAACP.\u00a0 Tara has over 12 years of experience in various school, hospital, home, community, and outpatient settings throughout the west coast and southeast US, for children and adults.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

            Currently, Tara is developing her experience as a mother, a Pathway 3 intern working to obtain her Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential, and is available for in person services and teletherapy for clients in Hawai’i.<\/span><\/p>\n
