Since 1900, YWCA O\u2018ahu has been serving women and their families in an effort to fight gender inequality and eliminate racism. By pairing advocacy work with diverse programming, we are uniquely positioned to affect meaningful change in society on both an individual and systemic level. YWCA O\u2018ahu Economic Advancement programs provide opportunities for professional growth for women transitioning from challenging life circumstances. YWCA Oahu Fernhurst is a community-based work furlough program and transitional housing for women reentering society after incarceration. Dress for Success Honolulu provides resources and support to women looking for employment.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

We will also be accepting women’s clothing donations for the Dress for Success<\/a><\/span><\/span> program. Any nearly new women’s clothes in good condition will be accepted, but there are some high need items that would be greatly appreciated. High need items are brand new underwear and bras with tags attached, black closed-toe shoes, black or neutral colored professional pants, white, long sleeve button down oxford style shirts, plus size professional attire, medical scrubs, black or neutral colored professional handbags, and gift cards to clothing stores such as Macy’s, Ross, TJ Maxx, and Target. Items that are not used by the program will be sold at the monthly Dress for Success clothing sale. 100% of the proceeds go to supporting Dress for Success programs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Welcome to our monthly Benefit Sound Bath Series! The mission behind creating this series is to bring more peace to the community and to the world. It is designed to fill you with serenity, and healing that you can spread throughout your community, while at the same time spreading awareness and helping nonprofit organizations throughout Hawai’i continue their amazing work. In celebration of Women’s History Month we are proud to be supporting <\/span>YWCA Oahu<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a> in their mission to empower women, fight gender inequality, and eliminate racism.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

About this event<\/b><\/p>\n

Rest and restore in an aerial hammock! Let the aerial silk cradle you, and safely support you as you explore restorative yoga postures, both inside the hammock and on the ground. Experience the sensation of floating in Savasana (yogic rest) as the crystal bowls envelop you with an ethereal sound. No experience necessary! The hammocks will be accessible for everyone. Space is limited, as we have a limited number of hammocks available, so be sure to sign up early to reserve your spot!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the class Bryan will immerse you in a musical sound journey with the crystal singing bowls. Bryan\u2019s unique approach to sound healing incorporates his training in classical music to create a beautiful, flowing soundscape. Every session becomes a brand new composition, designed to help you reach deeper, and deeper states of relaxation, and meditation. This music will guide you into a state where deep healing, and rest occurs. You will leave the class feeling rejuvenated, restored, and peaceful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bryan Jordan<\/strong>
Bryan believes that when we all live from our authentic selves, we have the power to change our community and the world. After studying classical music at the University of Montana, he moved to O\u2019ahu to pursue massage therapy, sound and other healing arts. Bryan has a passion for the transformative power of sound, music, nature and art, and has been using crystal singing bowls to create healing music for over 15 years. His goal is to help as many people as possible create a life of well-being, purpose and joy, by offering live sound healing events, and creating meditative music for YouTube and Insight Timer. Robin Shepard, Yoga E-RYT200\/ RTY500, RCYT, YACEP<\/strong><\/p>\n

Originally a native of the Pacific Northwest, Robin spent the last 13 years traveling, raising her family, and acquiring knowledge and skills living in such places as Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Ho Chi Minh City. Though she will never stop wandering, she now considers Honolulu home. She feels lucky to have been a part of the vibrant yoga culture of Vietnam where she completed her foundational yoga teacher trainings with Suzanne Vian of Yoga Vietnam and her 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training in the FluidUs Method with Carlos Tao. Additionally, Robin is a registered Children’s Yoga Teacher, Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider, and has training in Pre-Natal and Post-Natal yoga.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, Robin enjoys teaching both the young and the young-at-heart. As a life-long learner, she is fascinated by recent scientific discoveries around fascia and functional movement and their implications for the practice of yoga. This curiosity has fueled exploration and experimentation to create a style of movement that is playful and dynamic, with practical benefit for everyone from absolute beginners to more advanced practitioners. She is always looking for ways to deliver a more personal experience, with respectful irreverence and fun. She links functional movement skills, breath mechanics, and novel approaches to traditional poses to increase somatic awareness, mobility, and build an organic mind\/body connection.<\/p>\n

As a long time practitioner, Robin has personally experienced the difference that a regular yoga practice can make in a person\u2019s life. She sees yoga as a doorway, progressing from movement into meditation, awareness, understanding, and finally acceptance of ourselves and others. She considers yoga a powerful and essential practice to help navigate our modern world.<\/p>\n
