SUMMARY:Contemporary Dance 6-week series Elizabeth Lentz-Hill. In-Person
DESCRIPTION:6-week seriesSeptember 2 – October 7\, 2026Wednesdays\, 7:15 – 8:15 pmPrice: $135 \n\n\n\n\nSign Up Here →\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis six-week series explores the fundamental movements and body awareness at the heart of Contemporary Modern Dance. Open to all levels\, each class includes warm-ups\, structured improvisation\, across-the-floor combinations\, and choreography designed to help you discover the joy\, freedom\, and expressive power of movement. Whether you’re building a strong foundation or refining more advanced technique and artistry\, each dancer will be supported at their individual level. \n\n\n\nThrough mindful movement and creative exploration\, you’ll deepen your body awareness\, strengthen the connection between mind and movement\, and discover new ways to express yourself. This class encourages you to explore your unique movement potential while cultivating confidence\, presence\, and authenticity\, both as a dancer and as a human being. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nElizabeth Lentz-Hill \n\n\n\nElizabeth’s students love the joy\, humor and freedom of expression in her classes. Her classes inspire students to think about dance and life in new\, exciting ways. \n\n\n\nElizabeth grew up in Hawaiʻi and is happy to be home\, dancing in the place she loves\, after more than twenty years of experience performing\, teaching\, choreographing and promoting dance. She has toured France\, Brazil\, Mexico\, and the U.S. with Tennessee Dance Theatre\, Chicago Moving Company\, Lucky Plush Productions\, and Breakbone DanceCo.\, and performed works by Bill T. Jones\, Doug Elkins\, Twyla Tharp\, and Charles Weidman. \n\n\n\nPrior to returning to Hawaiʻi in 2018\, Elizabeth co-founded two dance companies and two regional dance festivals on the continent\, one to promote modern dance in Chicago and one for 7-12th grade dancers and their dance educators in Mississippi. She served as an Associate Professor of Dance at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM)\, where she taught ballet\, modern\, dance education\, anatomy\, choreography\, and dance theory classes. While at USM\, Elizabeth worked to bridge the Dance and Theatre Departments\, including co-creating a full-length devised theatre work with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and serving as Interim Chair for both departments. She holds a BA in Religion with a concentration in Women’s Studies from Carleton College\, and an MFA in Dance from the University of Washington. \n\n\n\n“Ms. Lentz-Hill has effervescence\, an inner glow\, and an absolute belief in what she is presenting in the studio. There is an indefinable type of energy that leaps from her to her students. These qualities projected not only from Ms. Lentz-Hill but also from the students in the residency as they worked with her. The dancers left her sessions with knowledge of a dynamic energy\, knowing they had something of value to contribute to the community around them so much greater than an ability to be a technically sound dancer. To paraphrase a student in the residency – working with Ms. Lentz-Hill was not just a lesson in technique\, it was a lesson in life! “ – Mid-Pacific Institute

SUMMARY:Palena Workshop: A Hawaiian Perspective on Mapping Your Life Path with Kumu Mālia Helelā. In-person & Live Online
DESCRIPTION:Last Sunday of the month5:00 – 6:30 PM HST \n\n\n\nAugust 30\, 2026 \n\n\n\nFuture PalenaSeptember 27\, 2026October 25\, 2026 (no Palena in celebration of Diwali)November 29\, 2026 \n\n\n\nPrice: $3920% off unlimited membersFree for Hulali\, Malama & Annual Members \n\n\n\nLet’s gather together to visualize your life path from a Hawaiian perspective. In this workshop\, we explore the Palena\, the boundaries or protected spaces\, of your unique life map. \n\n\n\nWhat is Palena? \n\n\n\nBased on Hawaiian values\, Kumu Mālia visualizes the concept of Palena as a heart-shaped island map representing our life. Somewhat akin to various ‘life wheels’ used in self-help and life-coaching practices\, this island contains eight districts\, symbolically representing eight aspects of our life. This Palena framework for looking at any given topic or  situation provides the onlooker with a view that is both more expansive and more in-depth.  \n\n\n\nKumu Mālia’s deep immersion in Hawaiian language\, culture and history\, as well as her experience in hula\, lomilomi and as a mother of four\, have together inspired and informed her symbolic Palena outlook. See how the Palena perspective brings clarity to the way you understand life. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect: \n\n\n\nCome prepared for thoughtful introspection\, journaling\, and optional discussion. All writing material will be provided. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPalena Workshop Schedule

Combined with my background in Structural Integration and Neuromuscular Therapy\, it gave me an even deeper ability to listen and respond to restrictions in the myofascial matrix. It took the pressure off my fingers\, wrists\, and shoulders and allowed me to channel that force through my whole body. After giving a Sarga session\, I often found myself feeling more energized than when I started. While applying the Sarga Bodywork techniques to relieve specific injuries and chronic pain conditions\, I noticed a greater sense of freedom in my clients’ bodies\, profound shifts in their state of being\, and a more consistent rebook rate. \nI teach this work from a place of deep respect and gratitude. My aim is not only to help you master the technique but to teach you to truly sense the tissue transforming through the many tools contained within your feet. I look forward to instructing you and helping to make Sarga an integral part of your practice. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Kumu Mālia Helelā\n \n \n \n \n \n Kumu Mālia Ko’i’ulaokawaolehua Helelā strives to live a life of grace. You will receive the same in-person education and individual attention\, and you can continue exploring the curriculum afterward at your own pace. \n\n\n\nThe digital course and manual provide a comprehensive foundation\, but your time with Carmen will go far beyond the recorded curriculum. AIReal Yoga continues to evolve as Carmen works with different bodies\, studies movement\, and applies nearly 30 years of experience to new discoveries. \n\n\n\nDuring the in-person training\, Carmen will share the latest developments in the methodology\, including: \n\n\n\n\nRefined alignment principles\n\n\n\nNew variations and modifications\n\n\n\nFunctional movement applications\n\n\n\nCorrective exercises\n\n\n\nNervous-system regulation\n\n\n\nHypermobility considerations\n\n\n\nHealthy-aging applications\n\n\n\nCurrent approaches to safety and injury prevention\n\n\n\n\nYou will also receive what cannot be fully captured in a manual or video: Carmen’s real-time observation\, individual assessment\, hands-on guidance\, answers to your specific questions\, and ability to adapt the practice to the person in front of her. \n\n\n\nRather than simply repeating the digital course\, the in-person training brings the material to life. You will understand the reasoning behind the practice and develop greater confidence in making informed choices for your own body and the students you may teach. \n\n\n\nBecause your digital access never expires\, you can return to the training whenever you need to review a posture\, revisit alignment or safety information\, explore a modification\, plan a class\, deepen your practice\, or find renewed inspiration. \n\n\n\nYou do not need to remember everything at once. The digital training and manual become lifelong resources that continue growing with you. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWho Is This Training For?\n\n\n\nYoga Teachers\n\n\n\nExpand your teaching toolkit with a supportive\, adaptable modality that can help students experience familiar yoga postures in new ways. \n\n\n\nLearn how the hammock can provide feedback\, assistance\, resistance\, and accessibility\, allowing you to serve a wider range of students while maintaining a strong foundation in yoga\, alignment\, safety\, and intentional movement. \n\n\n\nRegistered yoga teachers are eligible to receive 50 Yoga Alliance continuing-education hours upon successful completion of the training requirements \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCurrent AIReal Yoga and Aerial Yoga Teachers\n\n\n\nWhether you trained with AIReal Yoga or through another aerial yoga program\, this training offers an opportunity to revisit your foundation with a new lens\, refine your teaching\, and experience the latest evolution of the AIReal Yoga methodology. \n\n\n\nCurrent AIReal Yoga teachers can refresh their knowledge and explore the newest updates\, alignment principles\, variations\, and modifications. Build Strong. Progress with Confidence.\n\n\n\nThroughout the training we’ll primarily use a low-set hammock. \n\n\n\nBeginning lower allows you to safely develop proper technique\, efficient movement patterns\, body awareness\, coordination\, strength\, confidence\, and creativity before progressing higher. \n\n\n\nLow-hammock work is also incredibly practical for studios with lower ceilings and for teachers who want to introduce students to aerial movement in an accessible\, supportive environment. \n\n\n\nThe foundational principles learned during the training can be adapted to longer hammocks and higher rigging points\, giving participants a versatile methodology they can continue developing in a variety of aerial hammock settings. \n\n\n\nBecause when the foundation is strong\, everything else becomes easier. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLearn the Method\, Not Just the Material\n\n\n\nOne of the greatest gifts this training offers is learning how to learn. \n\n\n\nInstead of simply memorizing sequences\, you’ll begin understanding how every aerial movement is built. \n\n\n\nYou’ll learn how to recognize prerequisites\, break skills into manageable steps\, identify appropriate progressions\, offer modifications\, and know when students are ready to safely advance. \n\n\n\nThis methodology continues growing with you. \n\n\n\nAs your own aerial practice expands over the coming years\, you’ll have a framework for understanding how to safely teach new skills instead of feeling like you’re constantly starting over. \n\n\n\nWhether You Want to Practice or Teach…\n\n\n\nSome participants join because they simply love aerial hammock. \n\n\n\nOthers dream of becoming teachers. \n\n\n\nMany come somewhere in between. \n\n\n\nNo matter your goal\, this training meets you where you are. \n\n\n\nIf your goal is to deepen your personal practice\, you’ll leave with greater confidence\, improved technique\, and a deeper understanding of movement. \n\n\n\nIf your goal is teaching\, you’ll begin building the foundation for becoming a knowledgeable\, safe\, and inspiring instructor. \n\n\n\nThis training is not about producing perfect performers. \n\n\n\nIt’s about helping every participant become a more confident mover\, learner\, and—if they choose—a future teacher. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nA Proven Curriculum Built from Decades of Experience\n\n\n\nFor aspiring teachers and studio owners\, one of the most valuable parts of this training is receiving Carmen’s structured teaching curriculum. \n\n\n\nRather than wondering what to teach after students learn the basics\, you’ll receive a clear\, progressive roadmap that helps students safely develop confidence\, strength\, creativity\, and skill over time. \n\n\n\nThis curriculum has been refined through: \n\n\n\n• More than 25 years of aerial experience \n\n\n\n• More than 20 years of teaching \n\n\n\n• Over 17 years of owning and operating a successful aerial studio \n\n\n\nEvery progression\, lesson plan\, and teaching method has been tested\, refined\, and improved through thousands of hours of real-world teaching with students of all ages\, backgrounds\, and abilities. \n\n\n\nYou’ll leave with a proven system—not just ideas. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Explore\n\n\n\nThroughout the training you’ll explore: \n\n\n\n• Foundational aerial hammock skills and techniques \n\n\n\n• Safe alignment and efficient movement patterns \n\n\n\n• Progressive skill development \n\n\n\n• Strength\, mobility\, coordination\, and body awareness \n\n\n\n• Creative transitions and aerial dance-inspired movement \n\n\n\n• Progressions and modifications for different experience levels \n\n\n\n• Teaching methodology and effective cueing \n\n\n\n• Spotting and supportive teaching practices \n\n\n\n• Beginner class development \n\n\n\n• Sequencing and lesson planning \n\n\n\n• Understanding prerequisites for advanced skills \n\n\n\n• Creating safe\, engaging\, and successful aerial classes \n\n\n\n• Adapting material for both low and higher hammock settings \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWho Is This Training For?\n\n\n\nThis training is ideal for: \n\n\n\n• Aerial hammock practitioners wanting to deepen their practice \n\n\n\n• Aerialists looking to strengthen their foundation \n\n\n\n• AIReal Yoga® teachers \n\n\n\n• Yoga teachers interested in aerial movement \n\n\n\n• Aerial teachers wanting a clearer beginner curriculum \n\n\n\n• Studio owners developing aerial hammock programs \n\n\n\n• Experienced hammock students considering teaching \n\n\n\nYou do not need to currently be a teacher or have previous aerial circus\, dance\, or performance experience to attend. Some experience using an aerial hammock is recommended\, and AIReal Yoga® or aerial yoga experience provides an excellent foundation for this training. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Receive\n\n\n\nYour registration includes: \n\n\n\n• 24 hours of immersive\, hands-on instruction with Carmen Curtis \n\n\n\n• Personalized coaching and individual feedback \n\n\n\n• A downloadable and printable curriculum manual \n\n\n\n• Instructional videos for continued learning \n\n\n\n• Ready-to-use lesson plans and sequencing resources \n\n\n\n• Carmen’s progressive aerial hammock teaching methodology \n\n\n\n• A proven curriculum developed over decades of teaching \n\n\n\n• Practical progressions\, variations\, and teaching tools \n\n\n\n• Resources to continue your practice long after the training \n\n\n\n• A Certificate of Completion \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCertificate of Completion\n\n\n\nUpon successfully completing the training\, participants will receive a Foundational Aerial Hammock Training Certificate of Completion. \n\n\n\nFor those wishing to teach\, this training provides an exceptional foundation for becoming a safe and knowledgeable aerial hammock instructor. \n\n\n\nLike every movement discipline\, true mastery comes through continued practice\, observation\, experience\, and teaching. \n\n\n\nTeaching readiness naturally develops at different rates for every individual. \n\n\n\nOur goal is not simply to certify teachers. \n\n\n\nOur goal is to help cultivate thoughtful\, confident\, and responsible aerial educators who continue growing long after the training has ended. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Carmen Curtis\n\n\n\nCarmen Curtis is one of the pioneers of modern aerial education and the internationally recognized creator of AIReal Yoga®\, the first aerial yoga teacher training recognized by Yoga Alliance.
