What began as a small community gathering — a story shared among students and teachers — has grown into a full theatrical production\, drawing dozens of performers ranging in age from 5 to 85. This year\, for the first time\, that story steps onto one of the most storied stages in the Pacific: the Hawaiʻi Theatre. \nThe Epic Tale of the Ramayana follows Prince Ram and Princess Sita\, cast from their kingdom into exile\, and the courage\, loyalty\, and love that carry them through it — including Sita’s abduction by the ten-headed demon king Ravana\, and her rescue by the troops Prince Ram and the devoted monkey-warrior Hanuman. Throughout the day\, Mālia will guide you through movement\, music\, self-massage\, lei making\, Hawaiian cultural activities\, Palena and a special blessing\, creating space for connection\, reflection\, and renewal. \n\n\n\nYour retreat also includes a nourishing vegetarian lunch\, giving you time to relax and enjoy community together. \n\n\n\nCome as you are and leave feeling more grounded\, cared for\, and connected to the spirit of aloha. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKumu Mālia Helelā\n\n\n\nKumu Mālia Helelā strives to live a life of grace. Her halau (hula school)\, which meets at Still & Moving Center\, is Na Hula Ola Aloha. Completing her uniki (graduation) under Kumu Hula Puluelo Park in 2002\, she now teaches hula and oli (traditional Hawaiian chant) to a wide range of students\, from infants and toddlers to kupuna. Mālia studied oli under Kumu Hula Keola Lake. She began her formal training in lomilomi massage as a teenager. She was licensed by the State of Hawaii as a massage therapist in 1998 and as an esthetician in 2002. Her hula practice and lomilomi practice\, she says\, are the same. She continues to look to the beauty and grace of the Hawaiian environment for grounding and inspiration. Mālia has become a respected and beloved cultural practitioner in Hawaii
