Many of us have spent years developing repetitive movement patterns that do not serve us and may actually hurt us. Feldenkrais can help. A “Functional Integration® (FI®) lesson” is the formal name for the private, hands-on Feldenkrais® sessions that we give at our studio in Hawaii.
What can you expect in a Functional Integration® session? Your highly experienced Feldenkrais® practitioner typically starts with you lying comfortably on a Feldenkrais® table. You may also do some of your “lesson” in a sitting or standing position. Using a gentle, non-invasive touch, your Feldenkrais practitioner guides your head, arms, and legs through small, very subtle moves. The practitioner’s touch suggests new, more effective movement patterns and possibilities for your body.
Through the gentle, mindful movements of Feldenkrais®, you stop reinforcing old injuries and habits. You experience the beauty and relaxation of our Hawaiian islands with greater comfort and ease of movement in your body. You feel better again.
Moshe Feldenkrais, the creator of the Feldenkrais Method®, deeply understood the human nervous system, how we ingrain habits and how we can change them to new, healthier ways of moving. He was one of the original pioneers of neuroplasticity, helping people to retrain their body with their mind, retrain their nervous system to function more effectively.
