 Last class Dec 9, 2021

Dance, move, laugh, shake and put JOY into your workout!

Nia® is an expressive body-mind movement program that offers an artistic and innovative approach to fitness and healing. Blending aspects of Martial Arts, Dance Arts, and Healing Arts, Nia® creates an experience that involves your whole body, as well as your spirit. The stillness and concentration of Tai Chi, the alignment and strength of Yoga, the explosive power of Tae Kwon Do, and the grace and spontaneity of Modern and Ethnic dance – all create a whole new sense of wellbeing!

These classes are exhilarating not guilt-driven, expressive not one-dimensional, and healing not exhausting. Every class offers a unique combination of moves that help increase the flexibility and mobility in your joints while also conditioning the three main areas of the body: base, core and upper extremities. Rev up your heart rate while having fun and finding pleasure in every step. End every class by melting away your stress using relaxation techniques that enhance breathing and the flow of energy throughout your whole body.

Class note: No experience required. You just can’t do it wrong in Nia – you do it YOUR body’s way. Beginners and seasoned students all welcome.

To learn more about Nia, go to nianow.com, especially: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3rRjq1oaXg .

PLEASE NOTE: In order to continue to offer in-person classes, Still & Moving Center will require all in-person students to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 48-hours of the date of visit to the studio. Please bring your vaccine card (photocopy or photo are also acceptable) or negative test result with you to verify with the front desk prior to your next in-person class. Verification of vaccine status will be noted so that you will only need to show your vaccine card once. We will not store a visual record of your personal information.

The vaccination or testing requirement is only one part of helping keep our community safe and healthy. All other protocols still stand: You will be temperature checked and expected to maintain masks, social distancing and hand sanitizing at all times. Please bring your own yoga mat and props if possible (rentals available). If you have symptoms of COVID 19, please refrain from attending.

Krista Hiser, Nia Black Belt

For Krista, Nia is the ultimate in efficiency: in one hour, she gets a physical workout, a mental re-set, an emotional experience through music, and an energizing connection to her sacred purpose on the planet. It’s a workout, a dance party with friends, and a therapy session wrapped into one amazing hour! Nia is THE 21st century fitness modality.

Krista creates an energetic, potentially athletic experience for every-BODY, grounded in the joy of movement, clarity of the 52 moves, freedance, luxurious floorplay, and guided relaxation. Students love her eclectic playlists inspired by ecstatic dance.
“My style is athletic, creative, and zany. I teach Nia from my heart and I’m usually surprised at what comes out.”

Yes, you can just show up to work out and break a sweat, but Krista’s classes are designed to catalyze transformative change. She says, “I teach Nia to empower each participant to love their body and their life, and to impact our community and the world by doing whatever it is they do, and doing it better because they feel better and are connected to life force.”

Krista Hiser is a Nia Black Belt with specialized training in Nia FreeDance and Nia 52 Moves. Krista’s vigorous classes are accessible and inspiring for all levels. She currently teaches Classic Nia and Nia FreeDance.

She has been committed to Nia as a personal practice for over a decade, and has been teaching and sharing this work for eight years as a cumulative subject of inquiry.
