Guest teacher, Jeanne Mudie, joins us for 2 classes in February. Her years of classical ballet training led her to explore yoga as a way to reconnect with her body and heal her injuries. To this day keeping the body strong and safe from injury are her guiding principles in both her own practice and her teaching.
This class offers an active flow to build heat, strength and flexibility, as well as a grounding and steadying cool down, easing into savasana. Practitioners use breath to connect the mind, body, and spirit in order to heal the body, calm thoughts, and build a deeper connection to the Self.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a series of asana (poses) that will move practitioners through the power of connecting breath and movement with the intention of finding freedom. Vinyasa movements flow smoothly and can often feel like a moving meditation, which explains why some refer to it as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow yoga.

Jeanne is one of those yoga teachers who enriches her students’ practice by making it safer, more interesting and more challenging. Her years of classical ballet training and performance led her to explore yoga as a way to reconnect with her body and heal her injuries. To this day keeping the body strong and safe from injury are her guiding principles in both her own practice and her teaching.
In 2001, she took her first yoga teacher training course, based in the Ashtanga practice, which she initially appreciated for its athleticism. Since then she has taken her practice and teaching to a deeper level based in therapeutics and using her own injuries to explore how trauma affects the body. One of her biggest influences is her teacher Hart Lazar in Montréal.
As a business owner since 2017, Jeanne has developed exciting workshops, a yearly teacher training, fundraisers. Renamed AYM in 2019, under Jeanne’s guidance the studio has earned the respect of the yoga community and, to her delight, has become a gathering place for yogis of all stripes, from enthusiastic beginners to the most seasoned advanced students.
On a personal note, in 2018, Jeanne was diagnosed with ovarian cancer which resulted in a radical hysterectomy. She credits her years of practice and hyper-awareness of her body with protecting her and providing her with the tools to make a complete recovery.
Jeanne pursues her yoga studies to this day, testing out new dimensions in her own practice before bringing them to her students. Her greatest passion remains teaching, and by connecting with her students she strives to help them understand their own bodies so they can be their best selves both on and off the mat.
