Elevate your strength and challenge your perspective by taking your Yoga practice upside down! Are you interested in adding new arm balances and inversions to your Yoga practice? Or are you looking to strengthen the arm balances and inversion that you already know? In Yoga, arm balances and inversions can build your strength, clear your mind, boost your mood, increase your confidence, and enhance your energy with new blood flow!
Did you know that inversions in Yoga promote proper blood supply to the pituitary and pineal glands in the brain? Our health, vitality, and mental clarity are hugely affected by these two glands.
Your instructors, Anna Morales and Thuan Nguyen, have your safety in mind first and foremost. In this workshop, you’ll learn the proper body alignment, preparation, and breath techniques to set yourself up for healthy success.
We’ll start this workshop with a 45 minute Vinyasa Yoga Flow, integrating proper warm ups, strength building asana (yoga poses) and stretches to build up to your inversions and balance. Then, we’ll guide you through a few different asana, such as flying frog, crow, tripod headstand, traditional headstand, and handstand. Bring your requests and personal goals! We’ll cater this workshop to what you are working towards in your Yoga practice and end with a little Yogi play time to bring your work to life.
In addition to serving as a teacher, Anna Gray Morales considers herself a lifelong learner. She inspires in her students a quiet confidence that we, too, can make steady progress in this ancient practice of yoga. Her steady leadership instills in us a sense of calm sureness.
Anna is passionate about creative communication, photography, yoga, and moving in nature. In 2019, she earned her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certification through Santosha Yoga Institute based in Bali, Indonesia. She has been practicing and teaching ever since, and is now studying Yoga Therapy to help empower diverse bodies and minds through yogic movement and philosophy.
In 2022, she graduated from the University of South Carolina’s Honors College and earned a BA degree that she created herself titled; Religious Studies through PhotoVisual Anthropology. With this path, she was able to practice her craft of photography, learn about people and cultures, and hone in on various religious traditions.
After graduating from The University of South Carolina, she moved to Oahu where she was introduced to Still and Moving Center. She has since found Still & Moving Center as her second home. Her favorite class is Satsang, because it reminds her of her roots while also inspiring her to grow each week.
Thuan is passionate about all things wellness. He is an active practitioner and advocate for mind-body training and loves to share his passion with others. Moving with Thuan inspires us to embrace challenges with a strong and focused mind.
He is an experienced program director who has served numerous nonprofits centering various aspects of community wellness, including environmental stewardship, housing, social-emotional health, and bike accessibility and culture. In addition to working at Still & Moving Center, Thuan also currently works part-time with a nonprofit that merges sports and mental health and a small affordable housing-focused company based in the Northeast.
Thuan has always loved movement. He grew up skateboarding, playing soccer and basketball, later discovered tennis and yoga, and now surfs every chance he can get. After ten years of practicing yoga as a student, he has now assumed a teacher role since completion of his 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) from YogaRenew this year. Accompanying others in their wellness journeys is a source of joy and connection for Thuan. He loves helping others grow in strength, confidence, and ability while never forgetting to have fun.
