Opportunity to perform at our Over the Rainbow Challenge celebration, Labor Day, September 2nd, 3-5:00pm
Calling all keiki: Come explore vertical space! You get to make discoveries and learn skills on both the aerial hoop (lyra) and in the aerial hammock. Your vivacious teacher, Jody Morse, is a seasoned aerial performer and instructor.
Increase your proprioception! “My what?!?” Your proprioception tells you where your body is in space, whether upright or upside down! You get to climb, twist, turn, invert and hang – safely without your parents nagging you to “get down off there!” Hah!
Increase your confidence and courage as you develop coordination, concentration, balance and strength.
“Hanging” with Jody provides fun plus enriched learning experience! Enjoy working on a “performance” piece to share recital-style at our Over the Rainbow Challenge celebration on Labor Day afternoon.
Kindly let Jody know of any injuries. Contra-indications for aerial classes: glaucoma, heart conditions, and fused spine.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to the first session so that we can evaluate the height of your aerial hammock.
Clothing Requirements:
For your safety: Tight-fitting clothing, shirts with sleeves, leggings
For preserving the apparatus: No zippers or metal. Jewelry off. No perfume
Jody’s students leave sessions feeling equally calmed and invigorated, alert but at peace, and grounded yet flying high. You’ll feel supported by her care and encouragement, and more skilled than when you entered class.
Connection is Jodie’s Why. For Jody, the past three decades worth of dancing – on the ground and in the air – have proven to be a great vehicle for self-connection and discovery, as well as wonderful relationships with others. In her classes, Jodie encourages students to engage in self-exploration while also meeting and connecting with their fellow movers, dancers, meditators, and flyers.
A long-time lover of all things anatomy, kinesiology, and somatic sensation, Jody has Riverdanced across Europe, ‘flown’ over stages for an international opera company, professionally danced aboard a cruise ship, and taught Pilates and guided meditation classes in six countries on three continents. Her experience in dance and aerial arts goes back for decades.
With a deep desire to help people heal and grow, Jody aims for you – her student – to get to know the self, the body, the mind, and the heart through your journey with movement and stillness.
