Foundations: Sarga Bodywork & Lomi Lomi: An Introduction to the techniques and Instructors
SARGA BODYWORK is a barefoot massage method that employs the use of a fabric strap fastened to a massage table to deliver therapeutic myofascial and deep tissue techniques. This fabric strap is used by practitioners for stability and to add tensional and gravitational force to specific manual therapy methods. These methods, combined with the broad contact surface of the foot facilitate less restriction and more ease and relaxation in recipients’ bodies.
Sarga Bodywork’s barefoot massage courses train and certify practitioners in our distinctive methodology and use of our proprietary equipment.
In this in-person course you will gain an understanding of Sarga Silk alignment and wrapping methods, will be able to perform Sarga Bodywork techniques for both posterior and anterior applications and will learn a full body 90-min sequence for professional application.

I trained in Sarga Bodywork in 2019, after being a bodyworker for 8 years, and it immediately revolutionized my practice. Combined with my background in Structural Integration and Neuromuscular Therapy, it gave me an even deeper ability to listen and respond to restrictions in the myofascial matrix. It took the pressure off my fingers, wrists, and shoulders and allowed me to channel that force through my whole body. After giving a Sarga session, I often found myself feeling more energized than when I started. While applying the Sarga Bodywork techniques to relieve specific injuries and chronic pain conditions, I noticed a greater sense of freedom in my clients’ bodies, profound shifts in their state of being, and a more consistent rebook rate.
I teach this work from a place of deep respect and gratitude. My aim is not only to help you master the technique but to teach you to truly sense the tissue transforming through the many tools contained within your feet. I look forward to instructing you and helping to make Sarga an integral part of your practice.
Kumu Mālia Ko’i’ulaokawaolehua Helelā strives to live a life of grace. Her halau (hula school), which meets at Still & Moving Center, is Na Hula Ola Aloha. Completing her uniki (graduation) under Kumu Hula Puluelo Park in 2002, she now teaches hula and oli (traditional Hawaiian chanting) to a wide range of students, from infants and toddlers to kupuna. Mālia studied oli under Kumu Hula Keola Lake. She began her formal training in lomilomi massage as a teenager. She was licensed by the State of Hawaii as a massage therapist in 1998 and as an esthetician in 2002. Her hula practice and lomilomi practice, she says, are the same. She continues to look to the beauty and grace of the Hawaiian environment for grounding and inspiration. Mālia has become a respected and beloved cultural practitioner in Hawaii.
