Step into the world of Indian Chai! Learn how to prepare a traditional, soul-nourishing chai tea through an authentic, hands-on, meditative chai-making workshop, complete with a cooking demonstration, tasting, reflection, and an authentic recipe to take home.

You will learn about the warming, aromatic, and traditionally Ayurvedic healing properties of the spices used in chai.

This uplifting and sensory-rich workshop begins by setting a shared intention, creating space to slow down and arrive fully. You’re then guided into the vibrant world of Indian chai and spices, exploring their energetic qualities and Ayurvedic wisdom—how each unique spice supports balance, warmth, clarity, and the heart.

You’ll get to know the qualities of each spice, including flavor, smell, and its benefits.

From there, you’ll move into a meditative chai-making practice, where stirring, simmering, and pouring become a form of mindfulness in motion. The aromas, sounds, and rhythm of the process naturally draw you into presence—no rush, no perfection, just awareness and care.

You’ll then enjoy your chai the traditional way, paired with biscuits, allowing time for mindful tasting.

We close with reflection in the community with gentle integration, helping you take the essence of this practice—warmth, balance, and intention—back into your everyday rituals.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Learn to make traditional Indian chai step by step
  • Understand the energetic and Ayurvedic qualities of key spices
  • Experience chai-making as a meditative, grounding practice
  • Slow down through mindful tasting and reflection
  • Connect with community in a cozy, heart-centered space

Participants will go home with the knowledge, recipe and confidence to make the perfect traditional chai, along with a deeper appreciation for spices as partners in wellness, presence, and daily ritual.

Facilitated by Deeshen Shah and Jade Chan, Qigong teachers and tea practitioners. Deeshen has been making Indian chai for over two decades, since his childhood in India.

This workshop invites you to slow down, savor the moment, and let chai remind you how joyful it feels to be fully present, nourished, and creatively alive.
