Functional Fitness at Still & Moving Center
Discover customized approaches to functional fitness with our teachers at Still & Moving Center here in Hawaii and online. In addition to Pilates, you’ll find a surprising wealth of mindful exercise practices. Still & Moving Center’s functional fitness and exercise classes make your everyday life safer and easier – whether you’re picking up your grocery bags or the kids, whether you’re driving or gardening, or going up and down a ladder or step stool. Attending our functional fitness classes, you’ll no doubt look better in a swimsuit… we also really care about how good you feel in your body! We want you to be stronger with a greater range of motion. We teach you body awareness, to move safely and more easily, all parts of your body well-aligned.
Our cutting-edge functional fitness classes integrate the best information that both modern science and ancient healing practices have to offer:
· Feldenkrais Method is based on Neuroplasticity: how moving the body mindfully can enhance the brain and nervous system
· ELDOA Method is designed on the notion of Tensegrity: how the body is structurally and dynamically balanced through the fascia
· MELT Method brings release by rehydrating the body’s connective tissues
· Strength & Energy Flow stems from the teacher’s knowledge of Osteopathy
· Breath & Stretch relies upon the research of Buteyko Breathing and Yoga
· PhysioFlow™ is based on Physiotherapy & Gyrotonics
· Stretch for Rejuvenation class arises from the knowledge of Qigong and Acupuncture
· Barre Yoga blends ballet with ancient yoga practices.

Our functional fitness practices allow you to approach your unique fitness needs with customized adaptations, instead of expecting every student to do every move the same way as every other student in the class. You’ll meet fellow students in your classes of all shapes, sizes, and ages. And you’ll talk to long-term students who feel so much better since they’ve been taking their fitness classes at Still & Moving Center.
Still & Moving Center’s teachers are trained in a wide and deep spectrum of moving arts, backed up with a deep study of the body’s anatomy and physiology. Our functional fitness and exercise classes emphasize close attention to proper body mechanics so that you move the way your human body is designed to move: safely and efficiently.
With our unique approach to fitness, you learn to listen to your body’s sensations when moving, so that each move feels good as you progress through the class. You learn to exercise according to your body’s unique structural design, its own history from the ways you’ve moved it up until this point. Honoring your own body in all its beautiful uniqueness becomes the path to a fitter, healthier, happier you!
