During February, the month of love, Eva Geueke emphasizes how we can move in such a loving way that movement becomes medicine that can heal our bodies. By moving slowly with careful awareness, you develop a nonviolent relationship with your nervous system, bones, muscles, and ligaments. Find how movement can be a way of saying to yourself: ‘I love you!’

These workshops are also great Valentine’s gifts! You might consider a loved one who could benefit from this special “love your body” weekend.

DAY 1 – Loving Your Hips

Learn how to lovingly take care of your pelvis and hips: the powerhouse of your locomotion

The hip joints are part of the pelvis. Opening the hip flexors increases healthy mobility and prevents hip damage. With improved pelvis and hip health, you will likely feel more able to live fully and act powerfully.

In this workshop, Eva guides you through gentle Feldenkrais® movements that enable you to sense the connection between your pelvis and hips so that these parts work together for powerful and flexible movement. This Feldenkrais® lesson will also help you improve mobility by organizing ligaments and muscles around the joints to distribute their workload correctly. As a result, you’ll feel more at ease when walking or dancing.

To facilitate walking and running the pelvis needs to be flexible and strong. Learn how to better use these muscles in a coordinated, efficient way.

In this workshop students also learn about the importance of the pelvic floor. This often-overlooked region is essential for many basic life functions as varied as digestion, elimination, reproduction, breathing, and lovemaking. Improvement starts with awareness.

The movement of the pelvic floor is subtle, and yet it is possible for all of us to feel it. To improve the function of the pelvic floor, you will learn how to subtly contract and relax it. Regularly practicing techniques you learn in the workshop will make your pelvic floor healthier and stronger.

The Feldenkrais® method was developed by Judo Black belt and physician Dr. M. Feldenkrais in the 1940s to help heal his severe sports injury. His method has helped thousands of people of all ages, worldwide, to regain function and recover from injuries, tension and pain.

Dr. Feldenkrais understood that improving the function of the body starts with increasing the mind’s awareness of the body. With this new awareness, you re-pattern your movement, fascia and musculature. You drop excess effort and move with greater ease. Without even realizing it, you are resetting your nervous system. Your brain and body now work together more smoothly as you move.

Workshops can be taken individually or in combination for even greater benefits.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to continue to offer in-person classes, Still & Moving Center will require all in-person students to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 48-hours of the date of visit to the studio. Please bring your vaccine card (photocopy or photo are also acceptable) or negative test result with you to verify with the front desk prior to your next in-person class. Verification of vaccine status will be noted so that you will only need to show your vaccine card once. We will not store a visual record of your personal information.

The vaccination or testing requirement is only one part of helping keep our community safe and healthy. All other protocols still stand: You will be temperature checked and expected to maintain masks, social distancing and hand sanitizing at all times. Please bring your own yoga mat and props if possible (rentals available). If you have symptoms of COVID 19, please refrain from attending.
