This training has been really a beautiful time to reflect on my past experiences with the “no pain no gain” mentality. I played ice hockey for 20+ years, all the way through the professional ranks and by age 16, I could barely get out of bed in the morning due to debilitating back issues stemming from mindless training. Body performance always took priority over body safety. This training has allowed me to reflect back upon those days and what I could have done differently if put in that situation again. Now, I feel empowered to go back into the world of hockey, only this time from a coach’s standpoint, and I look forward to putting body safety at the top of my players’ priority list.
Almost everything was new to me and I loved every moment. The balance of how the content was displayed was really AWEsome. It was just enough information to take in and process and not too much to get overwhelmed at. -Mitchell Snider / Personal Training / Yoga
The format was more collaborative and joyful than I have experienced online before, so kudos for that. Being in tune with our own body sensations has struck me the most. It’s made me realize that while… yes I am in tune with my body, I’m not always honoring or listening to it. I have to practice what I preach, even at this phase of life in small ways. I know I’m not alone in this, as the numbers for teachers getting burnt out or injury is high. I loved everything about playing this week, and it’s expanding my thoughts to include more of it in my classes! -Roxy Menzies / Yamuna®️ Gyrotonic®️ Pilates
