Dear Valued Still & Moving Center customer,

Commitment to Health & Safety

We care for the health and safety of our students, teachers and staff as our top priority. In the age of COVID-19, we’ve protected our ‘ohana by taking a number of measures, such as transitioning to online classes, increasing sanitizing practices in the building and implementing masking and distancing measures for working and teaching in the studio. As part of the larger community, we are also mindful of the health and safety of the whole.

High New Levels of Covid-19 on O’ahu & Freedom of Choice

Given the increasingly virulent strain of COVID-19 on island and the landslide number of cases (over 800 new cases a day with over 3,000 per day predicted for October) as well as the overloading of our ICUs in 2 main hospitals, we are having to ask ourselves what we can do to reduce risk when people are entering and leaving our building at 1024 Queen Street in Honolulu, Hawaii.

While we have done our best to date to allow everyone to exercise their freedom of choice regarding vaccination, the numbers on O’ahu at present are such that we feel compelled to require proof of vaccination to enter the building for the time being, starting September 1, 2021.

We recognize that many people have health, religious or philosophical reasons for not taking the vaccine. Because we also offer online classes that each person can take in the safety and privacy of their own home, we are still allowing everyone to participate in our classes and still exercise their freedom of choice.

For some of us, this decision to require proof vaccination for entering the building does not come easily. Nevertheless, we feel that requiring proof is a better option at this time than shutting down all in-person classes, which do offer their own health benefits, spending time in person with others.

Proof of Vaccination to Enter Still & Moving Center Building

Starting September 1, 2021, in order to take In-Person classes at Still & Moving Center:

  • Please present a hard copy or photo of your vaccination card to the desk. The recommended 2 doses of the vaccine (or 1 in the case of Johnson & Johnson) will be required as well as a 14 day period following the last dose. We will note this information securely. You will only need to present your card once to access classes from that point on.

  • Any student who cannot or does not choose to show proof of vaccination will be offered alternative arrangements to follow their favorite classes online.

Please note, we are requiring that all of our staff members and teachers be fully vaccinated before returning to work in person as of September 1, 2021.

Ongoing Safety Protocols

Whenever you enter the building, everyone will continue to follow all current guidance to protect themselves and others, including wearing a mask indoors, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowds, and cleaning hands often. Students, teachers or staff members experiencing symptoms of sickness should remain at home for a period of 10 days. We recommend testing per medical recommendations in place at the time.

Our intention is to keep this vaccination requirement in place for the sake of our ‘ohana and the community at large until the safety level comes up and the infection rates go down.

With the deepest and most sincere wish for everyone health at every level of our being,

Your friends at Still & Moving Center
