Mestre Kinha

Truly, Mestre Kinha is the heart and soul of Capoeira Besouro Hawai.

Born as Paulo Linhares da Silva in 1969, Mestre Kinha began training at the age of seven with Mestre Beiçola (founder of Capoeira Besouro) in Quitungo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mestre Kinha continued to study and began teaching capoeira when he received his “professor” cordel in 1990. In 1991, Mestre Kinha was the Capoeira state champion in Rio de Janeiro. The following year, he was one of the top ten Capoeira finalists for a
national competition for the entire country of Brazil. Kinha received his “cordel de Mestre”; from Mestre Beiçola in 1994.

Mestre Kinha is an accomplished master of capoeira who has dedicated his life to the art. But more than that, he cares deeply for his students and his community. His energy and spirit are as inspiring as his capoeira skills and are a big part of the reason why Capoeira has grown in Hawaii over the past 2 decades. Mestre Kinha instills in his instructors and students a warm aloha for the art of capoeira and for our school and ‘ohana.
