Our Team
Our Team! Teachers and Staff at Still & Moving Center. Meet our highly sought-after team of highly experienced teachers and helpful staff. Join our ohana, feel welcome here.
The Still & Moving Center seems to be a magnet attracting talented, creative teachers, therapists and staff workers. Our ohana is warm, sincere, and supportive. Most have a great sense of humor – we laugh a lot at Still & Moving! Our teachers are well-trained professionals, licensed and/or certified in their areas of expertise. They are nearly as diverse in their backgrounds and ages as the students they teach. What they have in common is that they LOVE what they teach and they can’t wait to share it with others. The bodyworkers and therapists of our Malu Healing Room are also a highly qualified, experienced group, fully licensed in their practices. Their touch is healing; their care for their clients is genuine. As beautiful as our place is, it would be an empty shell without the talent and skill of the people who work here. Staff are on hand at all times, helpful and caring.
We make up a select grouping of movement and wellness experts, authentic cultural practitioners and artistic guides. A collective of mindful movers and thinkers, drawn together to broaden the experiences of our students’ bodies, minds and spirits. With deliberate emphasis on quality, safety and compassion, our teachers and practitioners are selected with care through a vetting process, and mentored regularly in Still & Moving Center’s guiding principles of mindfulness, health and community. Our teachers and staff hail from around the world, from diverse backgrounds, and gather under the umbrella of mindful movement and moving meditation.
From our flagship Hawaiian Hula program, led by our very own authentically trained Kumu Hula, Malia Helela, through yoga, meditation, dance and the martial arts led by master teachers in their own rights. Still & Moving has also paved the way for its community to benefit from the revolutionary healing practices of Feldenkrais, ELDOA and MELT. Still & Moving gained its raison d’etre from its founder’s practice of Nia, which is taught by our certified faculty 6 days a week and has since grown a following for its reputable aerial instructors, including the founder of AIReal yoga, Carmen Curtis. Classes are crafted with intent and adjusted to each student’s needs.
