Each class includes an energizing warm-up, foundational steps, and dynamic choreography — along with stories and cultural insights that reveal the roots and spirit behind each movement.

By the end of the series, you’ll bring it all together in a lively group performance at the “Merry & Bright Celebration”, sharing your new skills and vibrant energy with the community!

Carmen Linhares is the co-owner and co-teacher at Capoeira Besouro Hawaii, brings a lifetime of movement and artistry to her capoeira and dance classes. She began studying the arts in childhood — exploring ballet, jazz, West African, Caribbean, and Brazilian dance — and later performed professionally off Broadway with a Brazilian Dance Ensemble, as well as in productions both locally and abroad. Since discovering capoeira in 2001, she has dedicated herself to its practice and teaching, co-founding Capoeira Besouro Hawaii with Mestre Kinha in 2004 and sharing her passion as an instructor since 2006.
