Price: $110
Participants will have the optional opportunity to perform at Still and Moving Center’s “Merry and Bright” celebration on December 12!
Discover Argentine Tango through four progressive sessions that build the essential skills of partner dancing from the ground up.
Explore tango as a dynamic conversation between two bodies. Learn to communicate through movement, deepen your body awareness, and connect and respond to a partner with clarity, confidence, and ease.
Throughout the four sessions, you will:
Connect & Communicate with a Partner — Practice leading and following as a physical dialogue rooted in intention, listening, and response.
Build Body Awareness & Balance — Strengthen your posture, coordination, stability, and control so you can move with greater comfort and confidence.
Listen & Move with the Music — Train your ear to recognize rhythm, phrasing, and the distinct qualities of traditional Argentine Tango music.
Learn Traditional Tango Vocabulary — Explore foundational movements and sequences while developing coordination, spatial awareness, and movement memory.
Benefits
By the end of the series, you will move with greater balance, awareness, and coordination while developing stronger listening and partner-communication skills. You’ll leave with a practical foundation in traditional Argentine Tango and the confidence to continue learning and step into the social dance experience.
No previous tango or dance experience is required.

Do you recall the first time that watching a tango performance virtually swept you off your feet?!? That’s the feeling you’ll get watching and learning with Josefina Stellato! The closeness, the confidence, the breath-taking swoops and tantalizing pauses…
Josefina Stellato has been dancing Argentine tango at the highest level for more than two decades. She’s now arrived at Still & Moving Center as our Artist in Residence for about 6 months!
As a performer, Josefina has been a member of renowned choreographer Leonardo Cuello’s tango company at the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She’s been a cast member of Social Tango Project for the past decade, performing in multiple theaters in Buenos Aires! In 2023, Josefina participated in the company’s North American tour and performed at Kennedy Center in New York City.
As a teacher, Josefina deepened her understanding of pedagogy under the direction of Dana Frigoli and the DNI Tango school in Buenos Aires, where Josefina served as a senior faculty member. She was also an official member of the DNI Tango Company, where she participated in the live shows “Dos, lo que se disuelve”, “Asimétrico”, “Seres Materiales”; a film version of “Dos”, and “Remueve la piel suspire”, which Josefina created and choreographed.
Josefina has taught and performed at international festivals in Europe and during the pandemic gained a devoted following for her online lessons. Welcome to Still & Moving Center, live and in person, Josefina!
