Perhaps you’ve wondered about the ELDOA technique – a class Still & Moving Center began offering just under a year ago. Intriguingly, the French government commissioned a doctor to create this movement practice to prevent and address the vast amount of back pain that their national health system was paying for. And it’s working!

Much simpler than the translation from French may sound*, this highly effective movement method lengthens the spine and decompresses joints. Through gentle movements, the body receives maximum relief.

In this workshop Stacey will introduce the basics of ELDOA to get you ready for your first class. You will learn:

  • What is ELDOA?
  • How can it help neck & back pain?
  • What are the basic postures & cues?

Once the renowned French osteopath Dr. Guy Voyer created the ELDOA Method over 30 years ago, this technique has become popular worldwide. It’s helping people regain comfort in their bodies and rediscover the ease of good posture. ELDOA has more recently spread to the United States, growing in popularity for its effective results. People who appreciate Feldenkrais also tend to appreciate ELDOA.

Come give it a try!

What ELDOA can do for you:

  • Alleviate back and joint pain
  • Facilitate healing of the joint tissues to decrease inflammation & chronic pain
  • Improve arthritic & neurological conditions of the spine, hips and shoulders
  • Improve posture
  • Improve mobility
  • Prevent injury.

*In case your were wondering, ELDOA stands for the French acronym Étirements Longitudinaux avec Décoaptation Osteo-Articulaire, translating to: Longitudinal Osteo-Articular Decompression Stretches (lengthwise opening stretches, relating to the bones and joints). Basically, the technique makes use of the same principle of tensegrity that keeps the Eiffel Tower standing upright. Our backs and upright stature for walking depend on all of our connective tissues working together properly, and ELDOA trains the body to do this again naturally.
