HULA & HAWAIIAN
At the heart of Still & Moving Center lies Hawaiian culture: its living aloha, language, and closeness to the land and sea. Learn to dance a story to island music with your hands, face, hips and feet through the grace of modern and ancient hula.
Come to the mat as you are, and leave it feeling aligned and centered. In classes of varying intensity and styles, turn within, focus on your breath, and find your way safely into the postures. Relaxation and meditation support your yoga.
Experience the Joy of smooth-jointed, healing movement to soul-stirring music with a touch of fun. Fusing dance, martial arts and yoga, Nia provides a full cardio workout for body, mind and spirit! You just can’t do it wrong, listening to your body!
MEDITATION & CULTURE
We invite you to be fully present, right here, right now. Enjoy calm, clarity, and centering through still and moving meditation practices. Share with friends the world’s rich and wise traditions of thought, dance, music, conversation and chanting.
Enjoy mindful, safe, full-body exercise on the floor or chair to enhance your health, gently reducing pain and stiffness. Try Pilates, Feldenkrais, foam rolling, ELDOA, stretch for rejuvenation, MELT, and more. Increase your strength, flexibility and balance.
People travel from near and far to experience our global dance school, thrilled by our talented teachers from around the world. Join our local and online classes, workshops and events for hula, belly dance, Bollywood, Afro, contemporary, and ecstatic dance!
We practice ancient tai chi and qigong traditions to focus our intention and to increase the healthy circulation of qi / chi / life force energy through the body. We enhance our self-confidence, vitality and alertness through skillful body/mind movement.
More than a bucket-list activity, aerial dance and yoga condition your body uniquely, providing spinal extension, upper body and core strengthening, spatial awareness, balance and lymphatic drainage. You also give yourself a big confidence boost!
Our treasured Seniors at Still & Moving Center model lifelong learning and self-regeneration. Wisely, with awareness, we continue to move our bodies at any age. Our vast array of classes promotes physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.
Still & Moving Center welcomes the entire Ohana so while the adults are enjoying their classes, their kids can too! Our keiki classes such as kids hula storytelling, and aerial dance, not only encourage movement, but also imagination and appreciation for our culture.
Still & Moving Almanac
Quote for the Day:
Alas! when once thou hast become like the pure snow in mountain vales, cold and unfeeling to the touch, warm and protective to the seed that sleepeth beneath its bosom – ’tis now that snow which must receive the biting frost, the northern blasts, thus shielding from their sharp and cruel tooth the earth that holds the promised harvest, the harvest that will feed the hungry. – THE VOICE OF THE SILENCE
Theme for the Week: Eightfold Path 3: Right Speech
Right speech infuses non-violence, benevolence and harmony into the individual’s most potent means of interaction with others, and also fosters tranqility of thought and feeling.
