Move your body. Still your mind. Find center. Find Joy! – Still & Moving Center’s motto. Imagine your life with more inner calm, more mental clarity. Imagine stress levels subsiding. Imagine that tendency to flash into anger simply melting. Imagine sleeping peacefully at night.
Still & Moving Center’s free online meditation and mindfulness classes cultivate true awareness. Mindfulness entails being fully present: Here. Now. Most of our classes set your body in motion in what we call “moving meditation.”
What about STILLNESS? As the goddess of mercy and compassion, the beautiful Kwan Yin statue in our entry exudes a centered, peaceful presence. Still & Moving Center provides guidance for sitting, silent meditation, and free online mindfulness classes. Meditation helps to manage symptoms of PTSD, cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep problems, tension headaches and migraines.
Even if we are natural “movers”, we can cultivate the self-discipline and patience to sit silently on a cushion. Let’s do it! The yoga postures are only a precursor to the deeper practice of sitting meditation. Qigong needs a sitting meditation for complete benefits.
Cultivating stillness, we can gradually hold a steady focus of meditation to enter more elevated states of consciousness. The important point is not just the take off and soaring in meditation; it’s the landing. Let’s bring some of the peace and light that we glimpsed in meditation back into our day-to-day lives for a renewed sense of purpose.
All spiritual teachers point meditators to the benefits of keeping good company when not alone. At Still & Moving Center we provide many opportunities for uplifting conversation in community, including Gems from the Wisdom Tradition: a Conversation Circle on Saturdays, and Satsang on Sundays. We form wonderful friendships on a deep level with people who value the spiritual quest and questioning.
