In a mindful moment, I’m fully engaged. I’m aware of what my body is doing, and my mind tracking, interested. If my emotions enter the picture, I can watch them pass through like waves into the background. No anxiety. Just Joy.
Moving meditation is part of my medicine, my ticket to a ride on the healthy life train. For me, focussing is more effortless when I’m in motion. I compare it riding a bike: easier to balance when I’m traveling along. For me, mindfulness can be as close as a dance step away.
What about STILLNESS? As the goddess of mercy and compassion, the beautiful Kwan Yin statue in our entry exudes a centered, peaceful presence. Still & Moving Center provides guidance for sitting, silent meditation. Meditation helps to manage symptoms of PTSD, cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep problems, tension headaches and migraines.
Even if we are natural “movers”, we can cultivate the self-discipline and patience to sit silently on a cushion. Let’s do it! The yoga postures are only a precursor to the deeper practice of sitting meditation. Qigong needs a sitting meditation for complete benefits.
Cultivating stillness, we can gradually hold a steady focus of meditation to enter more elevated states of consciousness. The important point is not just the take off and soaring in meditation; it’s the landing. Let’s bring some of the peace and light that we glimpsed in meditation back into our day-to-day lives for a renewed sense of purpose.
