Qi Gong at Still & Moving Center
Qigong originated as the self-care practice behind many of the martial arts. Qigong masters are famously long-lived, maintaining their health and vibrancy throughout their lives. This time-honored practice combines posture, movement, breath, body tapping, and intention in ways that can heal and vitalize us on many levels.
Qi translates to “vital energy” and Gong means “the skill and practice of,” Drawing upon wisdom from Taoism and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong works with the flow of energy through the body, to bring about balance and harmony. The while fairly stationary the exercise can range from gentle to rigorous, and accessible to people of all ages and abilities. It uses specific movements aimed at guiding energy through different meridians and pathways, along with breathing, visualization, and other mindfulness-based techniques.
Through regular Qigong practice, you can improve your concentration, stamina, bone density, and your bone marrow’s production of blood cells. Qigong may have a healing effect on all the body’s organs and systems. You may well find your blood pressure dropping, as well as your tension and stress levels.
