Have you ever dreamt of floating or flying, freely suspended in the air while also being solidly supported and secure? This is what dancing in a lyra feels like, once you gain familiarity and skills on the apparatus.
If you liked playing on the monkey bars as a kid, you’ll love dancing on the lyra as an adult! Once you get on the hoop, your possibilities are endless!
In this class, you’ll work toward gaining strength, finding balance: mentally, emotionally, and physically. You’ll explore connections to moving lyrically music, suspended movement, and beginner-friendly choreography.
As you grow in your aerial practice, you not only train your body… you train your mind as well! If you need to cultivate attention, concentration and focus, practicing an aerial skill will serve you well.
No experience or special skills are required for Lyra. Nevertheless, participants need to hoist and stabilize their own body weight.
Kindly let your instructor know of any injuries.
Contra-indications for aerial classes: glaucoma, heart conditions, fused spine, and pregnancy beyond doctor recommendation.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you can safely enjoy your Aerial class. Since space is limited and setup time is necessary, we are not able to accommodate late arrivals to Aerial classes.
Clothing Requirements:
For your safety: Tight-fitting clothing: shirts with sleeves, leggings
For preserving the apparatus: No zippers or metal. Jewelry off. No perfume.
All equipment provided.
This class is for adults ages 18+. Interested younger teens can confer with the instructor in advance of signing up for class.
