On day 2 of this workshop we learn new skills that transform the use of our eyes, our diaphragm and spine helping us to see and act more clearly.
The movement of our eyes organizes the movements of our body. Our vision impacts and interacts with every movement we make throughout our whole body, as well as how we feel and think. The eyes direct our spine especially our neck and thoracic spine. For example if we look for many hours forward into a screen, our neck moves forward and shoulders up. This is often paired with shallow breathing and postural problems. When our eyes are tight and tense our neck and posture will be tight and tense.
The diaphragm is not just for breathing and eyes are not only important for seeing! This workshop will focus on the diaphragm, neck, 7th cervical and eyes.
Through easy and gentle movements as prescribed in the Feldenkrais Method, we can learn to recognize and eliminate many of the common habits that interfere with easy, effortless vision, and good spinal organization.
We explore the system of fascia connecting the diaphragm all the way from the pubic bone to the neck. We will add WaveContinuum movement sequences for eyes and pelvis to expand our exploration.
