From Doris Morisaki, Still & Moving Hula Teacher
Remember how you used to move as a child: creatively and unpatterned? Or maybe you are around children often, and see them swing their arms all about, skip, hop, and turn upside down to see the world from a new perspective.
No matter your mobility, try moving with this childlike playfulness. What other ways can you move that you normally don’t in your day to day routine?
Doris Morisaki tells us one way she keeps her spirits high and her body feeling good:
“Lately, I’ve been doing micro-stretches throughout the day. I may not have the time for a one hour yoga class, but I can do a few lunges, raise my arms, or walk around on a tiptoe. It’s amazing how much better I feel when I do a few stretches. We just gotta keep moving!”
So, next time you’re walking around your house or doing a chore, try a movement that evokes your youthful spirit, and invite a little micro-stretch into your daily routine.
