Class Schedule

Gordon Walker

Beware! Gordon Walker’s enthusiasm for dance is absolutely infectious. So watch out if you don’t want to catch it. And come dance with him if you do!

Born in Jamaica, Gordon can’t recall a time when he wasn’t dancing! His salsa journey began in 2014. Prior to salsa, Gordon dedicated 12 years to the art of capoeira, where he honed his sense of movement and physical expression.

In 2019, Gordon found himself in the role of a salsa instructor, a twist that has allowed him to share his insights and passion for dance. He has taught Salsa Casino and Rueda de Casino at the University of Hawaii at Manoa through Salsa Dancing at UHM RIO since 2019. Gordon is also a graduate student in Oceanography at the university.

Rueda808 is Gordon’s Cuban salsa performance dance group based in Honolulu. They specialize in Salsa Rueda de Casino. This group takes pride in the cultural diversity, ethnicities, and backgrounds of its members, who include students, professors, healthcare professionals, and other community members. They love dancing in a wheel formation, getting to know the whole group. Rueda808 dancers are passionate about dancing with aloha, a dance form that comes from another island culture!
