In this brief, 5 week Nia Mentorship series we will conduct an exploration of a new Nia routine: 2Gether. Nia has made a unique and innovative presentation of this one routine in at least 4 formats: classic, high intensity, 52 Moves, and Moving to Heal. Our goal in this series is to dance together to each of the four formats and collectively decide upon our approach for taking up the study of this routine in a subsequent series.
The study of the Kinesphere presents us with a new and exciting way to conceptualize how we move.
2Gether Focus : Kinesphere
2Gather Intent: To connect to the space around you. Reaching out with your fingers and toes will improve your flexibility, strength, and balance. Personal expression will bring out the dance in this Nia choreography.
As always, we engage in stimulating conversation, applying a Nia concept to the Still & Moving Center theme for the week. Through this lens we discover the impact of Nia upon our daily lives and our Nia lives.
Mentees find clarity, companionship and good cheer through weekly attendance in Renée’s mentorship series.
BENEFITS OF MENTORSHIP
Participants in former mentorships series have evolved from never teaching into teaching single songs as guest instructors; to teaching partial or whole classes as subs; to teaching classes of their own; to starting a new studio. Experienced teachers find new inspiration and insight mentoring with Renée and fellow mentees.
This mentorship program provides important instructional tips and a huge virtual hug of support and encouragement. You will share bonds of fellowship and interconnectedness with your fellow mentees that are almost palpable.
A 2nd Degree Nia Black Belt, Renée has earned every one of her Nia belts from the co-founders, Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas. Renée shares insights from her 17 years of applying Nia practice to the art of living. She founded Still & Moving Center in 2011 as a studio of mindful movement, offering international teacher trainings plus 80 classes a week, including Nia, hula, yoga, aerial, martial arts, dance, Feldenkrais and more.
“I’m grateful to Renée and her mentorship program, and the participants from around the world. We dive deep into all aspects of Nia with our mind, body, emotions and spirit. It is healing, supportive, inspirational and truly transformative. I found my Nia teaching wings in this program and I continue to grow each week. Thanks Renée.”

“The Nia Mentorship Series that I’ve attended online with Still & Moving Center has been such a great opportunity for me to stay “connected” to my Nia practice and Nia community in a way I could not have imagined when I signed up. The experience, love and appreciation of Nia that Renée, Nancy and others that have shared in the mentoring of this class and what they bring to the table and the dance floor is incredible!
Learning a new routine with the class, reviewing and diving deeper into the Nia principles and practices has been such a great learning opportunity for me.Through this Mentorship Series experience I continue to learn and grow in my confidence and ability to share Nia as a newer teacher as well as my own personal Nia practice.
I have also improved immensely the ability to put into practice my learnings as I draw from the “well” of Nia and “dance through life” in my own mind, body spirit experiences of each day.”
– Mikelle Ivers, Nia White, Green & Blue Belt from Wyoming.
