4:30 – 6:00 pm Live Ramayana story comes to You!

6:00 – 7:00 pm Feast together online

Free!

This is a Diwali Celebration of Light such as we’ve never experienced before! As always, we’ll enact the Ramayana epic behind this Indian holiday.

Light up your night with this Diwali Celebration of Light such as we’ve never experienced before! Come, bring your family, and be entranced by the magic and majesty of this captivating tale: the Ramayana. Join storytellers and performers as we land in ancient India, with an international sparkle, music, and dancing added!

  • Performers will include Kumu Malia with her hula dancers for “E Ku’u Morning Dew”, Willow Chang for a dazzling Bollywood piece, Dr. Wong Kai Ming for delightful and demonic sound effects, Marnita Billups with a beautiful Afro fusion dance performance, Kevin Capretto doing a dazzling tap dance, and more…! With story narration by Neelanthi Vadivel, Maliā Helelā, and Doris Morisaki. Plus, a special movie presentation created by Greg Hatton and the Diwali 2020 cast and crew. And more of your Still & Moving Center favorites!

Let our tale-spinners draw you in, and you can participate in the adventure with us from your own home or backyard! Cheer on our Prince Ram and Princess Sita, virtually battle against the demon King, and fly with our monkey hero Hanuman. You can act it out with your kids, or simply join us in flights of the imagination. Beneath the fun is a myth of profound depth.

Light candles with us to illuminate the way home for our valiant heroes, returning victorious on the new moon of Diwali. At the close of our dramatic telling of the Ramayana story, we’ll break bread (or chapatis!) together, share your insights and questions on the story, and find out more about its fascinating and complex characters.

Truly, this is a tale for the ages. You’ll be SO GLAD you came to celebrate with us!

Prop list for optional home participation:

  • Candles & lighter/matches
  • Newspaper
  • Chopstick
  • Crown of your fashioning
