Red symbolizes life, orange symbolizes healing, yellow represents sunshine, green is nature, blue stands for harmony, and purple stands for the spirit. The 2021 version of the flag also includes black for diversity, brown for inclusivity, and the colors of the transgender flag, light blue for boys, pink for girls, and white to represent transitioning. Music, Art, and Activism Movement Presents: Sound Healing/Yoga Nidra Benefit for the Trevor Project, supporting LGBTQ+ Youth

Welcome to our monthly Benefit Sound Bath Series! My mission behind creating this series is to bring more peace to the community and to the world. It is designed to fill you with serenity, and healing that you can spread throughout your community, while at the same time helping nonprofit organizations throughout the nation and the world.

This month 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention, and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people.

This month’s event is about authenticity, and creativity! During this session, we will explore the themes of how to be true to yourself, and how to unlock the stores of love and creativity that lie within your heart. We will explore the question of how you can show up more authentically for yourself, and in support of your LGBTQ+ friends and family. We are all one family of many colors and many gifts. Let’s support our LGBTQ+ friends, and prove that love always wins!

Monique will guide the first half of the session with a gentle yoga routine set to crystal singing bowls to encourage relaxation and finding your center. You will then lay down for the practice of “yoga nidra” or yogic sleep. This is a guided meditation that deeply relaxes the body, breath and mind while leading the practitioner into an “in-between place” – a state between awake and asleep. It is here that one can truly de-stress, rejuvenate and access creative insight.

During the second half of the class Bryan will immerse you in a crystal singing bowl sound bath that is designed to help you reach a theta brainwave state, where you can access the deeper thoughts, and emotions that lay in your subconscious mind. It is in this relaxed state that creativity flows freely, and deep insights into your life can occur.

About the Trevor Project

Research has shown that 45% of LGBTQ+ Youth seriously consider attempting suicide at some point in their lives, with that number being even higher amongst minorities, and transgender youth. Even one accepting adult decreases the risk of suicide by 40% for LGBTQ+ youth. The Trevor Project provides LGBTQ+ youth with 24/7 crisis counseling via phone, text, and chat, as well as advocacy work and research to foster education, and pass legislation that benefits the LGBTQ+ community.

Donating, and spreading awareness about the Trevor Project can not only help foster education, and understanding, it can also save lives. Your voice always matters. Thank you for your donation, and support!

Monique Bryan, B.A. (Pre-med), P.A. (ASCP) and (RYT-200)
Monique’s down-to-earth nature offers a space of stillness, bringing awareness to the breath, while guiding students through a meditative practice. She fell in love with yoga in 2007 when she was introduced to her first vinyasa flow class. She then integrated yoga into her life while practicing Western medicine. She realized how yoga allowed her to access the parasympathetic nervous system through the physical body with asanas (postures) and breath.

After yoga teacher training she began teaching the crossfit community, and then later became a traveling yogi throughout Southeast Asia and Central America. Working with different bodies has enriched her understanding of the body system that is always changing.

She is fascinated by the balance of yin (passivity) and yang (activity) in yoga and strives to bring this balance, along with a continuous awareness of alignment, to her classes.
